Healing Your Body with Massage
Massage therapy targets the source of one’s pain through eliminating tense muscles, increasing flexibility, and providing relaxation to the affected muscles and the body as a whole.
Massage therapy has many benefits which help to ease muscle pain, soothes anxiety and depression, boosts the immune system and helps to improve sleep. It can also help to relieve headaches, improve circulation and counteract the many hours that we sit down throughout the day. Massage will also help to improve one’s posture and overall general health.
Latoya has been a massage therapist for ten years and finds it extremely satisfying to have the opportunity to help clients heal pain and discomfort due to stress or injury. She studied at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 2005 and became a licensed massage therapist in 2007. She moved to Miami in 2013 and continues to work in the area.
Latoya specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, sports, injury recovery, trigger point and cupping techniques. She feels that the most enjoyable aspect of massage is being present and listening to the client’s needs, as well as, paying attention to physical cues and being able to apply the techniques necessary to promote change and healing.
Cupping therapy involves creating a small area of low pressure next to the skin. A variety of tools can be used to accomplish this. The most common being a mechanical pump.
Sports massage therapy is similar to a Swedish massage therapy but focused on individuals who participate in sports and are looking to help prevent injuries.
Swedish massage therapy involves using long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping to help relax and restore the function of the body.
Trigger Point Massage
Trigger point massage therapy is focused on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in muscles due to poor movement patterns and overuse.
